How do I remove candlemaking snowflaking?

When making Candles, I often get a very uneven, almost snowflaking appearance on the outside. I have read that this happens if you cool the Candle too quickly, so I have tried various speeds of cooling to no effect whatsoever. How do I get a solid color?

Sounds like the ‘snowflaking’ is caused by uneven solidification of the wax. And you’re right that uneven cooling is a likely cause. But if you’ve tried slowing your cooling rate and still have the problem, let’s consider other possible causes.

The key is unevenness. It could be your mixture is uneven. Possibly not thoroughly stirred. Or some ingredient isn’t dissolving in the wax. Or impurities contaminate the mixture during the cooking process.

You probably already keep your work area and tools as free of dust as possible. But if you can see dust swirling around in the sunbeams, you might need to move to an area with an air purifier.

And those oils and scents may be the problem. Either individually or in combination. If you make a batch without any of them, do you still have the problem? If not, try adding them back one at a time.
